Ginger 生姜
Ginger is one of TCM's most versatile kitchen medicines. Fresh ginger (Sheng Jiang) warms the stomach, releases the exterior, and transforms phlegm. Dried ginger (Gan Jiang) moves deeper, restoring Yang and warming the middle burner. Paired with red dates, it becomes a gentle daily tonic for cold hands, weak digestion, and the first sign of a chill.
- Best for cold patterns, weak appetite, and early-stage wind-cold
- Avoid large amounts in heat patterns, yin deficiency, or evening use
- Pairs well with jujube, brown sugar, and rice congee
